The outage is likely related to the t.co domain that X adds to all links on the website, allowing the social media company to track how frequently people click on outbound links.
Despite the outage, X's status page that tracks system errors did not show any issues.
This is not the first time X/Twitter has experienced technical difficulties. In March 2023, users received a strange error message when trying to click on URLs.
Since Musk took over the website, it has experienced several technical hiccups and controversial changes, including the removal of headline information for outbound links and the return of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.
