Overview
- XRPL published software release v3.3.0 on Thursday proposing six amendments and moved Confidential Transfers into the network’s validator approval process.
- Confidential Transfers would let issuers encrypt MPT balances and payment amounts while keeping account IDs and token types visible, using cryptographic proofs so the ledger can still validate sums without seeing values.
- The feature is opt‑in and initially only supports direct MPT payments, excluding XRPL’s on‑ledger exchange, escrow arrangements and checks, so it covers a subset of institutional workflows at launch.
- v3.3.0 also bundles Batch, Sponsor, Permission Delegation and Dynamic MPT to ease issuance and onboarding by grouping transactions, letting one account pay fees for another, delegating limited authority, and allowing some token changes after issue.
- Activation requires at least 80% of trusted validators to signal support for two continuous weeks, and uptake will hinge on whether a handful of large issuers that control much of XRPL’s roughly $1.38 billion RWA supply choose to opt into encrypted balances.
