XRPL Bug Fix Nears Activation as On‑Ledger Lending Remains Short of Votes

Developers sequenced safety patches to close token and vault flaws before any uncollateralized lending feature can be enabled on the mainnet.

Overview

  • The maintenance amendment fixCleanup3_4_0 reached the minimum 29-of-35 trusted-validator votes and is nine days into the required 14-day approval window with projected activation around 09:34 UTC on Oct. 23 if support holds.
  • The core lending proposals remain below the quorum needed to start their own countdown, with LendingProtocol at 19 votes and SingleAssetVault at 21 votes, so lending cannot go live with the October bug fix and would be delayed into early November at the earliest even if votes rise immediately.
  • The patch bundle and xrpld v3.4.0 release fix a token-creation loophole that could let some accounts mint tokens, tighten vault rounding and loan-default rules, and adjust AMM and transaction checks to prevent known errors.
  • Developers added a follow-up amendment, LendingProtocolV1_1, to repair the original lending code before activation; the lending design uses pooled, fixed-term uncollateralized loans with off-chain broker underwriting and optional broker-funded first-loss capital, which leaves lenders exposed to credit and broker risk.
  • Amendments require more than 80% support from the network’s 35 default trusted validators sustained for two continuous weeks and compatible xrpld client upgrades from operators are needed to avoid being amendment-blocked and to make any changes enforceable on mainnet.
