XRP Ledger Bug Fix Delayed to November After Validator Dip

The reset exposes that strict continuous quorum checks let brief validator dropouts halt protocol upgrades, delaying planned lending features.

Overview

  • The maintenance amendment fixCleanup3_4_0 was pushed from Oct. 23 to Nov. 4 after validator support briefly fell below the required threshold and reset the 14-day approval clock.
  • The amendment closes a token-creation loophole that could let a burn-only account mint tokens and it corrects vault and lending calculations in the xrpld 3.4.0 release.
  • Validator backing must exceed 80% of the 35 default trusted validators — 29 votes — at roughly 15-minute checkpoints for 14 consecutive days, and a single missed checkpoint restarts the timer.
  • At a checkpoint on Wednesday the yes vote count dropped to 26, later recovered to 31, which restarted the approval run with two votes to spare and set the new activation projection for Nov. 4.
  • Broader lending-related amendments still lack the quorum to begin their own 14-day windows, and the fix will only take full effect if operators upgrade xrpld clients and key custodians and wallets adopt the patched software.
