Xreal Prices Aura at $1,279, Opens Reservation-Only Preorders

The move signals Android XR’s arrival for consumer eyewear with early sales tightly limited to prior reservation holders.

Overview

  • Xreal announced on Wednesday, October 7 that the Aura starts at $1,279 for a 12GB/256GB configuration and is $1,499 for a 16GB/512GB upgrade.
  • Pre-orders are open only to customers who paid a reservation before October 7 and Xreal is offering a numbered Founder's Edition and priority-deposit tiers that require completing purchases by set dates.
  • The Aura uses a split-compute design with a lightweight ~95 g glasses frame and a separate puck that houses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite, runs Android XR with Gemini integration, and supports hand-tracking and Bose audio.
  • Xreal plans a phased rollout that will send initial shipments to the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea “soon” or “before the holidays,” with general ordering to open in the coming weeks and wider availability expected in 2027.
  • The price and timing put Aura in direct competition with Meta’s VR Glasses, but the transparent optical design, Android app access and limited early supply leave real-world performance and software breadth as the key questions for buyers and developers.
