XREAL Aura Goes on Sale as Android XR Glasses With Puck-Based Computing

The launch opens orders in key markets and signals Google’s partner-led push for lightweight spatial computing.

Overview

  • XREAL opened orders in the United States, Canada and South Korea with Japan sales starting November 2, and shipments are expected to begin in mid-November after the Oct. 28 announcement.
  • The product pairs a 95-gram optical see-through glasses frame with a separate wired compute puck that houses the battery and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite chip to keep processing off the face.
  • Aura runs Android XR with integrated Gemini AI, supports millions of Google Play apps plus more than 150 made-for-XR experiences, and offers Wired Mirroring so a laptop or handheld console can appear as a resizable window in the user’s view.
  • XREAL is selling two SKUs with a limited launch discount through December 2026: 12GB/256GB for $1,099 (regular $1,279) and 16GB/512GB for $1,299 (regular $1,499), and orders are available via XREAL’s store and Best Buy with broader retail rollouts planned for 2027.
  • How Aura could matter: its split-compute design aims to trade headset weight for a pocket puck, but real-world comfort, battery life, app quality and retail reach will determine whether it can compete with Meta and other upcoming XR headsets.
