Xodus Nexus Lets Xbox Game Pass Run Natively on Linux

Using a patched Xodus backend with Proton, the launcher lets users sign in to Microsoft, browse, install, run select Game Pass titles with cloud saves, remaining experimental without Microsoft or Valve support.

Overview

  • Xodus Nexus, which surfaced in coverage on Oct. 19–20, 2026, is publicly available on GitHub and enables native playback of some Xbox PC/Game Pass games on Linux devices such as the Steam Deck.
  • The project acts as an open-source launcher that uses a patched Xodus backend and Proton to handle Microsoft account sign‑in, library browsing, game installation and cloud save support for supported titles.
  • A published compatibility list shows several working games including Gears of War: E‑Day, Deep Rock Galactic, Forza Horizon 6 and Sea of Thieves while other titles fail or only partially run.
  • Early hands‑on reports and community tests show uneven stability and lower performance than native Steam builds or dedicated handhelds, so users are advised to proceed at their own risk.
  • The effort revives long‑running user demand for native Game Pass on SteamOS, and continued community testing and documentation will determine whether wider, reliable support emerges or prompts official action.
