Xiaomi Opens Pre-Orders for Safety‑Focused SU7 Refresh With Standard LiDAR

Higher prices still undercut Model 3 to help Xiaomi counter safety criticism.

Overview

  • Pre-orders began on January 7 for the updated SU7, which is scheduled to reach the market in April 2026.
  • The refresh centers on safety with standard LiDAR, a reinforced body, nine airbags, and backup power for door locks, plus 700 TOPS of compute running Xiaomi’s HAD driver-assistance suite.
  • Electrical platforms move to 752V for Standard and Pro and about 897V for Max, enabling faster DC charging that Xiaomi says can add up to 670 km of range in 15 minutes.
  • All variants adopt the V6s Plus motor, with the Standard and Pro rated at 320 hp and the Max at 690 hp, and the Pro now adds dual-chamber air suspension previously limited to the Max.
  • CLTC ranges are listed at 720 km (Standard), 902 km (Pro), and 835 km (Max), with pre-sale prices from CN¥229,900—about 6.5% higher than before yet still below Tesla’s Model 3 as Xiaomi targets 550,000 EV sales in 2026 after a late‑2025 sales slowdown and ongoing crash investigations.
