Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max Bring Rear Displays and Flagship Specs as Global Rollout Begins

Positioned to challenge iPhone and Samsung, the new models combine Snapdragon 8 Elite power, Leica cameras and oversized batteries with China launch prices below rival flagships.

  • Sales began in China on September 27 after a global presentation, and local media report Peru and other Latin American markets are listing the series with sales expected roughly 10–30 days after announcement.
  • The Pro models add a secondary rear AMOLED screen (about 2.7–2.9 inches) beside the camera module for notifications, quick controls and using the main cameras as a selfie viewfinder.
  • Both Pro phones run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and feature OLED main displays (about 6.3 to 6.9 inches) with up to 3,500 nits peak brightness and 120 Hz refresh rates.
  • Battery capacities are notably large at about 6,300 mAh for the 17 Pro and 7,500 mAh for the 17 Pro Max, with 100 W wired charging, 50 W wireless charging and reverse wireless support.
  • Xiaomi published China prices starting at 4,999 yuan for the 17 Pro and 5,999 yuan for the 17 Pro Max, with local press converting those to roughly $700–$980, while final export pricing will vary by market.
