XFL and USFL Merge to Form United Football League
New Spring Football League Set to Kick Off in March 2024
- The XFL and USFL have merged to form a new spring football league called the United Football League (UFL).
- The eight-team UFL will include five teams from the XFL and three from the USFL.
- The inaugural UFL season will begin on March 30, 2024, with a game between the Arlington Renegades and Birmingham Stallions, the previous champions from each league.
- Former XFL President and CEO Russ Brandon will lead the UFL in the same capacity, while former USFL President of Football Operations Daryl Johnston will lead football operations.
- The UFL games will be broadcast on Fox, FS1, ABC, and ESPN.
