Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition Set for July 30 Launch

The release delivers higher-resolution performance, new playable modes and characters, and a paid upgrade path for current owners.

Overview

  • Nintendo issued a Version 3.0.0 update that makes Xenoblade Chronicles 2 compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
  • The Switch 2 Edition will be available digitally on July 30, 2026 and as a physical release on October 1, 2026, with paid upgrade pre-orders now live at $9.99 / £7.99.
  • The new build runs at 4K and 60 frames per second in TV mode, 1080p in handheld mode, and features sharper, smoother cutscenes.
  • New gameplay content includes Merc Assault, which lets players directly control up to six Blades and switch between them in battle, plus a new rare Blade named Momo who shifts between two forms and a new quest.
  • Pyra and Mythra receive unlockable new outfits as Merc Assault rewards, the original Nintendo Switch version remains unchanged, and the release fits Nintendo and Monolith Soft’s staged Switch 2 trilogy rollout that is likely to drive upgrade sales and renewed player interest.
