Overview

  • Two co-developed models, the ROG Xbox Ally and higher-end Ally X, will launch October 16 across the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Middle East, with additional markets such as Brazil and India following in early 2026 and China receiving the Ally X only.
  • The base Ally uses AMD’s Ryzen Z2 A (4 Zen 2 cores, 8 RDNA 2 GPU cores) with 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD and a 60Wh battery, while the Ally X upgrades to a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme (8 Zen 5 cores, 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores, NPU) with 24GB RAM, a 1TB SSD and an 80Wh battery.
  • Xbox’s new Handheld Compatibility Program will label titles as Handheld Optimized or Mostly Compatible and add performance expectations such as 30fps or 60fps indicators, with devices offering Silent, Performance and Turbo power modes.
  • Advanced shader delivery in the Xbox app will preload shaders during downloads so supported games can launch up to 10x faster, run more smoothly and use less battery on first play.
  • Both handhelds run Windows 11 with a controller-first Xbox interface and support multiple PC storefronts; AI features on the Ally X such as Automatic Super Resolution and Highlight Reels are slated to roll out early next year.
