Microsoft and ASUS Launch ROG Xbox Ally Handhelds Worldwide

The Windows-based devices prioritize an Xbox-style interface, gain new handheld compatibility tags, and will soon add default game profiles for battery and performance tuning.

Overview

  • Xbox confirms the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X are now on sale across roughly 45 countries, with retailer availability varying by market and the Ally X carried through more limited channels in some regions.
  • The two-tier lineup starts at $599.99 USD for the Ally with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, and a 60Wh battery, while the $999.99 USD Ally X adds a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, 24GB RAM, 1TB storage, and an 80Wh battery.
  • Microsoft updated the Xbox PC app with handheld compatibility indicators, and ASUS released an Armoury Crate SE refresh, both available to the new Xbox-branded units and the original ROG Ally.
  • Game support is ramping up as titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Roblox roll out handheld-specific optimizations, with Doom adding a preset that targets 720p/30fps on Ally and 1080p/60fps on Ally X when plugged in.
  • Microsoft’s post-launch roadmap includes Default Game Profiles in the coming weeks, followed in early 2026 by Automatic Super Resolution, highlight reels for Ally X, and docking experience enhancements.
