X Removes NFT Profile Picture Feature

Paid subscribers can no longer use NFTs as profile pictures, following similar moves by other social media platforms.

Overview

  • Twitter, now known as X, has removed the feature allowing paid subscribers to use NFTs as their profile pictures.
  • The feature, launched in 2022, was seen as a validation of NFTs and allowed users to display their digital assets in a unique hexagonal shape.
  • Despite the removal, users who had an NFT set as their profile picture still have hexagonal avatars, and it's unclear if these will be removed.
