Overview

  • State and local regulators have begun reviewing the Tallgrass–Crusoe permit application for the new facility, which starts at 1.8GW before expanding to 10GW.
  • The project will rely on its own gas generators and renewable energy installations rather than drawing from the public grid.
  • Crusoe has not named a lead tenant and has declined to confirm whether OpenAI’s Stargate infrastructure will be hosted at the site.
  • Upon activation, the center’s initial power draw will exceed the combined electricity use of all Wyoming households.
  • Cheyenne’s cool climate, low energy rates and status as a top net power exporter have attracted data centers from Microsoft and Meta.
