- Four sets of remains recovered near Kyunpobin, Burma in 1947 were interred as unknowns at Honolulu’s National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
- In 2022 the Department of Defense approved DPAA’s request to disinter the remains for advanced laboratory analysis
- On April 16 DPAA scientists officially accounted for Carlin’s remains using dental, anthropological, isotope and mitochondrial DNA testing
- Carlin’s family received a comprehensive briefing and his name on the Manila American Cemetery’s Walls of the Missing will be marked with a rosette
- A formal burial ceremony is scheduled at Arlington National Cemetery in May 2026 to honor his service
