WWE Co-Founder Vince McMahon Resigns Amid Sexual Assault and Trafficking Allegations
McMahon denies accusations made in a lawsuit filed by a former WWE employee, as the company faces a pivotal moment following a major deal with Netflix.
- Vince McMahon, the co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and the most influential figure in professional wrestling, has resigned from the board of the parent company of WWE, TKO Group, following a lawsuit filed by a former WWE employee, Janel Grant.
- Grant's lawsuit accuses McMahon of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and forcing her into a sexual relationship in order for her to get and keep a job at WWE.
- The lawsuit also alleges that McMahon passed around pornographic pictures and videos of Grant to other men, including other WWE employees, and offered her as a sexual commodity to a star wrestler as a perk.
- McMahon has denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit a 'vindictive distortion of the truth' and stating that he intends to 'vigorously defend' himself against these 'baseless accusations'.
- This scandal comes at a tumultuous time for WWE, which recently announced a $5 billion deal with Netflix for exclusive rights to WWE’s flagship weekly show, 'Raw', and the addition of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to the board of directors of its parent company, TKO Group.
