Seth Rollins, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, has confirmed that he sustained a knee injury during a title defense against Jinder Mahal, but his ACL is intact and his partially torn MCL will heal over time.
Rollins is optimistic about his recovery, stating that he hopes to be back at full strength in around a month, and does not want his first match after rehab to be at WrestleMania 40.
Despite the injury, Rollins has vowed to walk into WrestleMania 40 as the World Heavyweight Champion.
Intercontinental Champion Gunther interrupted Rollins' announcement, stating that he plans to win the Royal Rumble and challenge Rollins for his title.
If Rollins is unable to compete at WrestleMania 40, WWE may have to consider backup plans, including a potential match between CM Punk and the winner of the Elimination Chamber.
