Wrong-Way Crash on Brenner Autobahn Leaves One Dead and Five Injured

  • A car entered the southbound carriageway at the Bolzano Sud toll booth against traffic shortly before 5:15 AM, triggering a head-on collision
  • The crash claimed one life and injured five people, including three children aged 8, 11 and 14
  • Emergency helicopters transported the three children to Innsbruck University Clinic, and two other injured motorists were taken to hospitals in Bressanone and Trento
  • Firefighters from Vigili del Fuoco di Bolzano, Polizia Stradale units and multiple ambulance crews responded to the scene
  • Southbound lanes remained closed for several hours with traffic rerouted onto the nearby state road, and authorities have since reopened the Autobahn, continuing medical care for the injured and a crash investigation
