Wrong-Way Crash in Navarra Leads a Day of Deadly Road Incidents Across Spain

Police investigations are underway following separate fatal crashes in Navarra, A Coruña and Granada.

Overview

  • A 34-year-old Oviedo native, Alejandra Prieto García, died after driving about 11 kilometers in the wrong direction on the AP-15 between Tudela and Irurzun before a head-on collision at 18:38.
  • A 66-year-old man was injured in the Navarra collision and was taken to the University Hospital of Navarra with a lumbar injury, and forensic procedures for the deceased are in progress.
  • Dashcam footage shared on social media shows the car traveling against traffic as truck drivers flash lights to warn the driver before the impact, and Policía Foral is investigating the cause.
  • In Culleredo (A Coruña), a 36–37-year-old resident of A Laracha died in a multi-vehicle crash involving a truck around 17:40–17:45, and firefighters extricated a female driver who was hospitalized; the Guardia Civil opened an inquiry.
  • Earlier in Albondón (Granada), a car plunged roughly 40 meters down a ravine on the GR-6202, killing a woman and injuring a man who was evacuated to the Cádiar health center, with 112, 061 and local firefighters leading the response.
