Wreck of WWII Submarine USS HarderSouth China Sea
The famed submarine, known for sinking the most Japanese warships, was found 80 years after its loss with 79 crew members.
- USS Harder was located 3,000 feet underwater off the coast of Luzon, Philippines.
- The submarine was instrumental in disrupting Japanese naval operations during WWII.
- It was found by the Lost 52 Project, which aims to locate all 52 US submarines lost in the war.
- The wreck is considered a war grave and remains largely intact except for depth-charge damage.
- Commander Sam Dealey, who led the Harder, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
