World Wide Technologies Championship Kicks Off at Tiger Woods-Designed Course in Los Cabos

Inaugural PGA Tournament on Tiger Woods-Designed Course Sees Ludvig Aberg as Betting Favorite and Cameron Young as Highest Ranked Player, with Expectation of Low Scores and Birdie Barrage over the Weekend

  • The World Wide Technologies Championship, held for the past 16 years in Riviera Maya, has moved to a course in Los Cabos, Mexico, this year. This marks the first PGA Tour tournament to be held on a course designed by Tiger Woods.
  • Ludvig Aberg, currently No. 99 in the FedEx Cup rankings, is the betting favorite for the tournament, with a strong performance this fall. Cameron Young, the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 17, is also expected to make a strong showing.
  • The new course, El Cardonal at Diamante, is a par-72, 7,452-yard course that features dramatic elevation changes and views of the Pacific Ocean. The design is expected to favor players with strong iron-play over driving accuracy.
  • Sahith Theegala, despite struggling with driving accuracy, is expected to perform well on the new course due to its wide fairways and expansive green complexes. Theegala is also known for his high birdie average, an advantage in a tournament expected to be a 'birdie barrage'.
  • This tournament is the fifth of seven events in the FedEx Cup Fall that finalizes eligibility for the 2024 season. Players between No. 51-60 in points after this series will qualify for two signature events next year, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational.
