World Series Hero David Freese Declines Induction into Cardinals Hall of Fame

David Freese, the 2011 World Series MVP, declined an invitation to join the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame.
Freese cited feeling like he didn't deserve the honor and wanting to respect players already enshrined.
Freese spent the first five seasons of his 11-year MLB career with the Cardinals and is best known for his heroics in Game 6 of the 2011 World Series.
The Cardinals will still honor José Oquendo and Max Lanier as part of the 2023 Hall of Fame class.
Freese will remain involved with Cardinals alumni activities and continue participating in fan events with the organization.
