World Population to Hit 8.09 Billion on New Year’s Day

Global population grew by 71 million in 2024, with India remaining the most populous country at 1.41 billion.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the global population will reach 8,092,034,511 on January 1, 2025, reflecting a 0.9% increase from the previous year.
India is the world's most populous country with 1.41 billion people, followed closely by China at 1.40 billion.
The global population grew by 71 million in 2024, slightly less than the 75 million increase recorded in 2023.
In January 2025, the world is expected to see 4.2 births and 2.0 deaths every second, according to Census Bureau projections.
The U.S. population is projected to reach 341 million on New Year’s Day, growing by 2.6 million in 2024, with international migration contributing significantly to this increase.
