World Grand Prix of Darts Opens in Leicester as Double-Start Major Gets Underway

Luke Littler enters as favorite despite saying he dislikes the event’s double-start format.

Overview

  • The 32-player PDC major runs October 6–12 at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena, the only event on the calendar that requires players to start and finish each leg on a double or bull.
  • Opening night features first-round ties including Luke Humphries vs Nathan Aspinall and Gary Anderson vs Raymond van Barneveld, with play beginning at 6 p.m. local time.
  • Littler faces Gian van Veen on Tuesday evening as the fifth match of the night session at approximately 8:00 p.m. local, with the winner to meet Peter Wright or defending champion Mike De Decker.
  • The tournament carries a £600,000 purse with £120,000 to the winner, using set play with best-of-three sets in round one, best-of-five in round two and the quarter-finals, best-of-nine in the semi-finals, and best-of-11 in the final.
  • Every session is live on Sky Sports in the UK, with coverage via the PDC’s international partners including DAZN, Viaplay and PDCTV (regional restrictions apply).
