- The authentic FIFA World Cup Trophy was unveiled for media at CGV Yongsan IPark Mall on Friday, with public viewing set for Saturday and souvenir keyrings for visitors.
- FIFA ambassador Gilberto Silva carried the trophy to Seoul from Bangladesh on a chartered flight and was the only former player permitted to touch it at the event.
- South Korean greats Cha Bum-kun, Cha Duri, Lee Young-pyo and Koo Ja-cheol attended the ceremony and expressed hopes that a future generation will lift the trophy.
- The Coca-Cola–organized tour began Jan. 3 in Riyadh and will span 75 stops across 30 FIFA member nations over more than 150 days, marking the trophy’s fifth visit to Korea.
