Overview

  • On June 3, World Aquatics enacted a bylaw barring anyone who supports, endorses or participates in sporting events using prohibited substances or methods from its events and roles.
  • The prohibition covers athletes, coaches, team officials, medical staff, administrators and government representatives linked to the Enhanced Games.
  • Organizers plan to hold the inaugural Enhanced Games in May 2026 in Las Vegas with swimming, athletics and weightlifting competitions under a medically supervised, drug-permissive model.
  • The World Anti-Doping Agency and scientific experts have decried the Enhanced Games as dangerous, warning that performance-enhancing drugs pose serious health risks, including irreversible hormonal and cardiac damage.
  • High-profile names such as James Magnussen, Brett Hawke and Kristian Gkolomeev have signed on, and the event has drawn backing from investors including 1789 Capital, co-founded by President Trump Jr.
