Overview
- On March 23, Ashley Whitehouse, 42, wearing a balaclava broke into a couple’s home on Wingfield Avenue, Worksop, ransacked the kitchen and stole a purse
- During his escape he smashed a car window with a paving slab, hurled stones and bricks at one victim and struck him with a large stick
- A mobile phone left in a plant pot by the front door was identified as Whitehouse’s and traced back to his Primrose Way address
- While being detained, Whitehouse headbutted a police officer, causing an ear injury and prompting a zero-tolerance warning from Detective Constable Amy McMillan
- At Nottingham Crown Court on August 4, he pleaded guilty to burglary, criminal damage, offensive weapon possession and two counts of assault, receiving a two-year, eleven-month sentence
