A new trailer frames the auteur’s first Shanghai-set series for a curated weekly rollout.

Overview

  • Criterion Channel will exclusively premiere the 30-episode series in North America starting November 24, releasing three episodes every Monday at 8 p.m. ET through late January.
  • The platform will also stream the series in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Wong Kar Wai said he is thrilled to debut his first series on Criterion, calling it a portrait of Shanghai’s roaring 1990s that offers insight into a pivotal period of China’s reinvention.
  • Adapted from Jin Yucheng’s novel Blossoms, the show was directed in full by Wong and is rooted in the Shanghainese dialect and culture.
  • Hu Ge leads the cast as a self-made millionaire navigating the 1990s boom, with Ma Yili, Tiffany Tang, and Xin Zhilei co-starring, after the series became a record-setting hit on CCTV-8 and Tencent Video in China.
