Women's World Cup Downhill at Matterhorn Cancelled Due to Strong Winds

This marks another setback for the Zermatt-Cervinia downhills, with previous races cancelled due to adverse weather conditions and lack of snow.

Strong winds forced the cancellation of a women’s World Cup downhill on the Matterhorn mountain.
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation initially delayed the program as the ski lifts could not be operated in the early morning, before calling off the race hours later as conditions failed to improve.
This marks the latest setback for organizers of the Zermatt-Cervinia downhills, with previous cancellations due to lack of snow and adverse weather conditions.
The Gran Becca course, which starts in Switzerland and crosses the border to finish in Italy, has yet to host a downhill race.
Another women’s downhill is scheduled for Sunday, conditions permitting.
