Women’s DFB-Pokal Opens Main Round Under New Play-Off Format

Sky becomes the primary broadcaster with limited live selections before full coverage from the last 16.

Overview

  • A new pre-round play-off held in mid-August trimmed the 48-team field to 32 for the Hauptrunde, with Frauen-Bundesliga clubs and the top four from the 2. Bundesliga entering at this stage.
  • The main round is being played from 27 to 29 September, opening with VfL Wolfsburg away to Regionalliga side ATS Buntentor in Bremen.
  • The headline tie Borussia Dortmund vs FC Bayern kicks off Monday at 18:30 in Dortmund’s Stadion Rote Erde after capacity was expanded beyond 15,000.
  • Live coverage of the first round is limited to selected games, including Dortmund–Bayern on Sky and WDR, with several other ties on club YouTube channels, while SGS Essen’s trip to Kickers Offenbach is not being broadcast.
  • The knockout calendar is set with the Achtelfinale on 15–17 November, the quarterfinals in March, semifinals on 4–6 April, and the final on 14 May 2026 in Cologne.
