Women Now Hold 28% of Argentina’s Agroindustry Jobs, New Report Finds

A new report by FADA with Las Chicas del Agro credits automation for opening roles to women, with younger workers driving the shift.

Overview

  • The agroindustrial sector employs 4.2 million people, including 1.2 million women, according to the study.
  • More than 200,000 women joined the workforce over the past five years as producers, technicians, engineers and entrepreneurs.
  • Female participation is strongest in services (43%) and commerce (41%) but remains lower in primary production (14%), inputs (14%) and transport/logistics (17%).
  • Technologies such as automated machinery, digital platforms, drones and smart logistics are reducing physical barriers and expanding technical opportunities.
  • The fastest growth is among women under 30, signaling continued gains across a sector with a national footprint beyond major cities.
