Women in DAX Boardrooms Reach Record 25.7% Representation

Despite progress, women remain underrepresented in leadership roles, with only three leading top DAX companies as CEOs.

  • The proportion of women on executive boards of DAX 40 companies has reached a record 25.7%, up from 23.5% in January 2024.
  • This milestone marks a threefold increase in female representation over the past decade, driven by binding gender-parity regulations.
  • Since June 2024, seven women have been appointed to DAX executive boards, and three now serve as CEOs, including leaders at Merck, Commerzbank, and Daimler Truck.
  • Mandatory quotas, such as the 30% requirement for supervisory boards and the rule for at least one woman on boards with over three members, have proven effective in boosting representation.
  • While progress is evident, full gender parity remains distant, with women still underrepresented in decision-making roles and some companies lagging significantly behind.
