Woman Who Fled Into Mexico After 4-County SoCal Chase Surrenders as Bail Set at $50,000

Officials say 29-year-old Alyssa Wilson surrendered in San Diego after the nearly 200-mile chase began with a minivan taken from a Thousand Oaks sober living home.

Overview

  • Wilson was booked into the Ventura County Jail on felony unlawful taking of a vehicle and felony evading of a peace officer.
  • Deputies say a gray 2004 Toyota Sienna was reported stolen around 10:35 a.m. on Nov. 10 from the 1900 block of Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.
  • Ventura County deputies tracked the van to Simi Valley and an attempted stop at Cochran Street and First Street led to an eastbound escape onto the 118 Freeway.
  • The pursuit continued through Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties via the 405 and 5 freeways, reaching speeds up to 90 mph as multiple spike-strip attempts failed.
  • CHP terminated the active chase at the U.S.-Mexico border after the vehicle crossed into Mexico, and authorities later reported Wilson reentered the U.S. and turned herself in.
