  • Burning Man Project confirmed a “spontaneous” birth on Aug. 27 in Black Rock City and the medical transfer to Reno.
  • The baby girl, Aurora, weighed 3 lbs 9.6 oz and measured 16.5 inches, and she remains in a neonatal intensive care unit gaining strength.
  • Nearby medical professionals, including an OB-GYN and a neonatal nurse, assisted before on-site emergency teams moved the family to the Rampart clinic, with dust storms and recent rains complicating conditions.
  • Because helicopter space was limited, the infant flew alone to Renown Regional Medical Center while her parents traveled by ground and were later discharged in Reno.
  • A GoFundMe organized by the baby’s aunt passed $12,000 by Sunday to help cover NICU costs, travel, lodging, and basic supplies.
