Woman Seriously Injured After 80-Meter Fall on Icy Trail Near Oberstdorf

Police alpine specialists are investigating possible negligence within the hiking group.

  • Authorities said she was part of an 18-person hiking group from Ukraine headed to the Waltenberger Haus winter room at 2,084 meters.
  • Five members had already reached the hut and declined to be brought down, while twelve others chose to descend on their own.
  • The Alpine Einsatzgruppe accompanied the descent and has opened an investigation into the cause of the fall and any potential criminal responsibility within the group.
