Woman Rescued After San Rafael Kidnapping as Three Men Face Felony Charges

Dispatchers traced her phone to Robert Dollar Drive from a 911 call.

Overview

  • Police say the victim arranged a meet-up via an app in San Rafael’s Canal neighborhood on Saturday morning.
  • After picking her up, the suspects refused to let her leave, drove to an open space on Robert Dollar Drive, and one threatened her with a knife.
  • She escaped and called 911, dispatchers used GPS to locate her, officers followed her screams, and the suspect vehicle was stopped a few blocks away.
  • The detainees were identified as Sergio Godinez-Lopez, 24; Christopher Moneroso, 21; and Jonathan Valenzuela-Castro, 21, who were booked into Marin County Jail on kidnapping and related counts.
  • Valenzuela-Castro was found with a concealed, loaded handgun and a high-capacity magazine and faces additional weapons and assault-with-intent-to-commit-rape charges, and police are seeking tips at 415-485-3000 or srpd.org/tips.
