• On May 21, 42-year-old Russell Maxwell Phay allegedly forced his way into Ty Warner’s Montecito mansion and beat 60-year-old Linda Malek-Aslanian, leaving her comatose with a brain injury.
• Phay barricaded himself in a second-floor bathroom before deputies apprehended him after he jumped from a window and took him into custody.
• The victim, a financial services expert who previously worked for Warner’s hotels division, remains in a coma at a local hospital due to severe head trauma.
• Phay, an Army veteran with specialized weapons training and a history of violence, is held without bail at the Santa Barbara County Southern Branch Jail awaiting a preliminary hearing on June 2.
