Tizi Hodson, now 70, applied for a motorcycle stunt rider position in 1976 but never received a response until now.
The application letter was discovered behind a drawer at the Staines Post Office, accompanied by a note explaining the delay.
Despite not getting the job, Hodson pursued a successful career as an aerobatic pilot, snake handler, and horse whisperer.
Hodson was surprised the letter reached her after moving over 50 times and living in several countries.
She had intentionally omitted her gender from the application, fearing it would hinder her chances of being considered.
