Overview

• Police received a PCR call around 8:05 am to JJ Colony in Khyala and found Nusrat, 39, dead, with Akbari, 42, and Saniya, 20, injured and taken to hospital.
• The attacker was identified as Istekhar Ahmad alias Babbu, 49, and was overpowered by relatives before being handed to police.
• A case of murder and attempt to murder has been registered, crime and forensic teams examined the scene, and a post-mortem has been ordered.
• Detectives are assessing preliminary information that the assault followed suspicion the victims helped the suspect’s wife elope.
• Police sources say the assailant brought a cleaver concealed in a tiffin box and struck at close range, and the weapon has been recovered.
