Woman Killed in Sledgehammer Attack on LA College Campus

Homeless man, known to police, arrested and charged in brutal Christmas Eve assault.

A woman in her early 60s was bludgeoned to death with a sledgehammer on the campus of El Camino College in Torrance, Los Angeles on Christmas Eve.
The victim, of Asian descent, was collecting recyclables and walking her dog at the time of the attack.
The suspect, 40-year-old Jeffery Davis, was arrested later the same day near the college campus.
Davis, believed to be homeless and known to the police, was initially charged with attempted murder, but charges are expected to be updated following the victim's death.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
