Woman Jailed for Skipping Mandated Rehab After Etomidate-Laced Vape Offence

The case marks HSA’s first prosecution over failure to attend Kpod rehabilitation.

Overview

  • Tang Yu Ling, 23, pleaded guilty on Jan 6 to possessing a Kpod after failing to attend court-ordered rehabilitation and received a one-week jail term.
  • HSA initially placed her on a rehabilitation programme in lieu of prosecution and issued a Notice to Attend at the Institute of Mental Health on Sept 11, 2025.
  • She missed her first appointment on Sept 24, 2025 and did not inform authorities despite reminders, prompting HSA to bring possession charges.
  • The rehabilitation programme can run up to six months and provides education, counselling, and individual, group and family support to address addiction.
  • HSA reiterated that offenders who skip or do not complete rehabilitation will be charged, with possible penalties of up to a $10,000 fine, up to two years’ jail, or both.
