Woman Injured in P.E.I. Car Shooting Dies as RCMP Probe Deepens

P.E.I. RCMP say there is no wider threat, adding a burned vehicle found in Saint Lawrence to their resource-intensive probe.

Overview

  • A 50-year-old Summerside woman who was critically injured in the Aug. 8 shooting on Route 125 has died, RCMP confirmed on Aug. 12.
  • The male driver, a 35-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene after three shots were fired into the vehicle, which then struck a utility pole and crashed into a ditch.
  • The RCMP Major Crime unit is leading the investigation with support from forensic identification, police dog services, digital forensics, traffic units and local police partners.
  • Investigators have added a burned vehicle discovered in Saint Lawrence on Aug. 9 to the list of evidence being examined for links to the Urbainville shooting.
  • No arrests have been made and police continue to urge anyone with information to contact West Prince or East Prince RCMP or call Crime Stoppers.
