Overview
- Surrey Police said officers were called by South East Coast Ambulance Service to the Esher High Street supermarket on Wednesday, August 20, shortly after 6pm.
- Paramedics, police and the Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey, Sussex attended the incident.
- Despite treatment at the scene, the woman was pronounced dead at the store, and her next of kin were informed.
- The Waitrose branch and part of the high street were closed during the response and later reopened.
- Waitrose offered condolences to the customer’s family and said staff acted quickly and are being supported, in a statement reported by the BBC.
