Overview

• Emergency services including Dorset Police, HM Coastguard crews, a coastguard helicopter, an air ambulance and Weymouth lifeboat teams responded to a medical emergency at Durdle Door beach shortly after 1.13pm on June 19.
• A cordon was set up on the busy beach while paramedics performed CPR but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
• Dorset Police confirmed the deceased was a woman in her 30s, her next of kin has been informed, and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
• Temperatures peaked at 30.1°C in St James’s Park and similar highs were recorded across southern England.
• The UK Health Security Agency has activated a five-day amber heat-health alert to advise vulnerable residents of ongoing high temperatures expected through Saturday.
