Woman in critical condition after rare NYC shark attack

A woman was bitten by a shark at Rockaway Beach in Queens, a rare attack for the area.
The 50-year-old victim suffered a severe injury to her left leg and required a tourniquet.
She is in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery at the hospital.
The beach was closed for swimming and surfing as helicopters searched for the shark.
There have been increased shark sightings this summer off New York City and Long Island beaches.
