Woman Extricated After Two-Car Rochdale Crash as Police Take Over

Police now lead the scene following completion of the rescue phase.

Overview

  • Emergency crews were called at about 8:30pm to the junction of Bolton Road and Eskdale Avenue in Rochdale.
  • GMFRS deployed two fire engines from Rochdale and the enhanced rescue unit from Leigh.
  • Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to free a woman, who was taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.
  • Paramedics assessed and treated four additional people at the scene.
  • Firefighters made the area safe in roughly 90 minutes, road closures were put in place, and the public were urged to avoid the area.
