Woman Dies After Falling Overboard Cruise Ship Near Channel Islands

A passenger in her 20s was recovered by French rescue teams but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The incident occurred on the MSC Virtuosa cruise ship, which was traveling to Southampton from Lisbon.
A distress alert was issued around 2:00 AM BST after the woman fell overboard near Les Casquets rocks.
Rescue efforts involved a French Navy helicopter, lifeboats from Alderney and France, and a Channel Islands Air Search plane.
The woman's body was recovered from the water and taken to a rescue center in Tourlaville, where she was declared dead.
Authorities from both the UK and France have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the woman's death.
