Woman Denied Bail After Roadside Stabbing of Mother and Son in Wollongong

Police are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward as investigations continue.

  • A 27-year-old mother and her 10-year-old son were stabbed on West Dapto Road at Wongawilli around 6pm on Wednesday after another vehicle forced their car to stop.
  • The suspect, a 59-year-old woman known to the family, was arrested in nearby Horsley within 30 minutes of the attack.
  • NSW Police and ambulance crews treated the victims at the scene before they were airlifted to hospital with serious stab wounds.
  • A three-year-old child who was also in the vehicle was unharmed and has been placed in the care of another family member.
  • The accused faces two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Thursday.
