Woman Critical After Head-On Crash With Towed Grain Drill in Kenosha County

Deputies describe a cooperative towing driver, ongoing reconstruction, no apparent alcohol involvement.

Overview

  • The collision occurred around 8:39 p.m. on Nov. 28 in the 34500 block of Basset Road near Twin Lakes, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office.
  • An eastbound 2025 Nissan Rogue struck a John Deere grain drill head-on while it was being towed by a 2011 Ford F-350 driven by a 43-year-old man.
  • The 40-year-old driver was ejected and flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, where she remains in critical condition.
  • During scene documentation with a drone, a nearby resident identified by investigators as 39-year-old Kevin Berglund shined a flashlight at deputies and the aircraft, advanced on deputies, and resisted detention, leading to a drone crash into trees.
  • Berglund was arrested on suspicion of resisting and obstructing, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage to property; the towing driver submitted to a legal blood draw, driver names are being withheld, and the investigation continues.
